The most popular tourist attraction and the symbol most identified with Philadelphia is the Liberty Bell, one of the country’s most treasured symbols of freedom.
So, I suppose anyone who visits Philadelphia is compulsory to at least have a look at it.
The long queue for security that every visitor has to go through to see America’s most treasured symbol
Hence, I decided to check out the Liberty Bell Center, located within the Independence National Historical Park in downtown Philadelphia.
Besides housing the Bell itself, …
… the Center also features several exhibits on the history of the Bell, as well as freedoms obtained through the Bell in cases of slavery, women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement.
The very first section of the exhibit focuses on the Bell’s origin and accounts of its crack.
The exhibits then show how the Bell slowly became known as America’s Liberty Bell, and how freedoms were fought and obtained through the Bell.
And lastly, visitors are walked through on how the Bell became the world's symbol for liberty …
… in addition to the preservation of the Bell.
