MY2010 - The Gurney Resort Hotel and Residences

Located along the renowned tourist belt of Gurney Drive, we chose to stay at The Gurney Resort Hotel and Residences during our visit to Penang for our convenient stroll along the beachfront, food sampling and shopping.

The rooms may be dated, but what fascinated us the most was its “vertical” resort concept, where they managed to cram all the resort facilities into a single block of building.

Known as the Recreation Park, resort facilities on offer included an indoor archery range …

… indoor water park with an infinity pool …

… gym …

… Kid’s club …

… beach soccer and netball ...

… and a whole range of other activities.

Not too bad for a 4-star entertainment and family hotel.

MY2010 - Berjaya Times Square Hotel

Centrally located in the heart of the business and shopping district of Kuala Lumpur, we stayed at Berjaya Times Square Hotel for our convenient shopping trips to the Berjaya Times Squares, Sungai Wang and Pavilion.

Housed within the Berjaya Times Square’s shopping mall, our spacious Superior Room is equipped with modern amenities with a classical touch …

… and overlooks the city skyline.

During our stay, it was noticeable that the place had aged. But our real disappointment though, was their carelessness in administrative matters, such as poor potter services and recycling of key card envelopes with someone else’s name on it.

Something quite unexpected from a 5 star hotel.

MY2010 - The Suite Spa

After the relaxing massage at The Sanctuary Spa, I decided to give The Suite Spa at Gurney Hotel a try.

Ran by the same management and crew, the major difference between both spas is, one is catered specifically for females while the other is unisex.

Similarly, in each suite, there is a dedicated changing area, …

… massage bed, foot massage seat, bathtub, shower…

… and sauna.

Again, the masseur did a good job, but with the exception that the air conditioning was too cold (maybe they should introduce heated beds?).

MY2010 - Paddington House of Pancakes

After having lunch at T-Bowl, we decided to give Paddington House of Pancakes (PHOP) a try.

Claimed to serve more than 100 types of pancakes from around the world, it was really a tough choice for us to choose.

And yes, all they serve here are just pancakes!! Being full dining restaurant, they claim to be the first specialty pancake restaurant in Asia, serving only pancakes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and supper.

I guess the advantage of PHOP is visitors get to taste different varieties of pancakes from different countries in just one location.
