MY2011 - Choy Kee Restaurant

Driving towards Kuala Lumpur from the north, we stopped by a little town called Sungkai for lunch.

While it is generally well known that Germany is popular for their Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle), this hidden gem in Malaysia known as Choy Kee is also famous for that.

The only difference, instead of roast, its braised.

Accompanying the star attraction is Choy Kee’s Homemade Signature Beancurd with Minced Meat and Preserved Vegetables …

… and Steamed Freshwater Prawns with Ginger and Soy Sauce.

We also tried their Belacan Paku-Pakis (a type of fern leaf stir-fried with shrimp paste) and guess what, I later learnt that the fern leaf can easily be found and plucked from the road side.

How silly of us to be paying for something that costs nothing!! (But I guess its still worth the money paying for one of the most delicious vegetables in Malaysia)

And to end our lunch, we had a glass of herbal tea each to clear our internal body heat.
