US2011 - Macy’s Flower Show

Started as a fragrance festival back in 1946 in San Francisco, Macy’s Flower Show has since become an annual event and is currently held in six cities across the Unites States, including New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Chicago and Minneapolis (in addition to SFO).

Celebrating the arrival of Spring, decorated flowers at Macy's are in full bloom between the 27th of March until the 10th of April.

Themed the Towers of Flowers, visitors (or rather shoppers at Macy’s) are greeted with soaring floral architectures, rolling landscapes and specialty gardens bursting with colours and fragrance.

At the Macy’s Center City in Philadelphia, the Grand Court of the Wanamaker Building is decorated with a Spanish-inspired landscape, complete with towering Okame Cherry Trees.

In the ladies shoe department, an old-fashioned garden with rustic tones and woody materials are showcased, to resemble the nearby Lancaster County.

Right across in the jewellery department, a towering sculpture, water fountains and colourful flowers reflect a modern city skyline.

For the keen shoppers, a guided tour …

… is also provided to help them learn more about the flowers, the Eagle, …

.. and the 100 year old Wanamaker Organ.
