The award-winning Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk is one of Australia’s premier rainforest experiences.
Located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, it offers a new and unique way to experience the rainforest and breathtaking views of the Illawarra Escarpment.
Upon leaving the Visitor Centre …
… we followed a cleared path that took us into the dense bushland that forms part of the Escarpment …
… before arriving at the entrance of the Treetop Walk.
Equipped with a map that shows all the interesting points along the walk, …
… among the highlights of the walk include the various flora that strives on the Escarpment …
… the 1.5km walk through the beautiful warm temperate rainforest that is nestled 30 metres above ground, …
… the spiral Knights Tower that rises to a breathtaking 45 metres above the forest floor …
… and the two confronting swaying springboard cantilevers that are suspended 25 metres above ground that take guests to the edge of the Escarpment.
We then headed for the exit through the rainforest walk …
… and Visitor Centre.
For those with limited mobility, a shuttle service is also provided to transfer them between the Visitor Centre and Treetop Walk.
After burning 764 calories from our 1.5km walk 710m above sea level …
… it was time for lunch. But, instead of having the famous Robertson pie at Cafe 106 at the Illawarra Fly, …
… we opted to have the pies at the shop that made Robertson famous, which is only 15 minutes down the road!!
