Tao Authentic Asian Cuisine (commonly known as Tao Cuisine or Tao) …
… claims themselves to be an upscale restaurant that offers ALL-U-CAN-EAT buffet with full table service, focusing on quality rather than on price. Serving mainly Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisine, we decided to drop by their e-Gate branch for lunch during our visit to Penang.
Besides our drinks, …
… among the dishes that we ordered included Abalone, …
… Tempura, …
… Taiwanese Prawn Mantis, …
… Chawanmushi, …
… Sashimi, …
… Motoyaki Scallop, …
… Tori Jiru, …
… Shake Yamago, …
… Smoked Salmon, …
… Chikuwa Mentai Age, …
… Kaki Ebi Age, …
… Miso Yaki, …
… Mussel Spicy Mayo, …
… Salmon Hiroyaki, …
… Soft Shell Crab Maki, …
… Vanilla Coffee ice cream, …
… Honeydew Sago ice cream, …
and Fruit Platter.
Generally, the food portions as extremely small (as can be seen from the pictures above), compared to the pictures shown in the menu. Besides, we wouldn’t consider it as authentic, but manageable (or probably localised version of authentic). We were just glad that it was a buffet because the prices listed in the menu (for a la carte?) are way too exorbitant for the portions served.
