Located in front of the Smithsonian Castle, the Enid A. Haupt Garden has been a popular urban oasis in Washington, D.C. since its completion in 1987.
Comprising of three distinct gardens, the Victorian-style parterre in the middle extends the Castle’s grand welcome with an expansive lawn.
To the right is the Moongate Garden.
Inspired by the symbolic elements of the Temple of Heaven, a 15th-century religious complex in China, a circle granite island surrounded by a square granite pool is built in the centre to represent heaven and earth.
And lastly to the left, is the Fountain Garden which was modelled after the Alhambra, a 14th-century Moorish palace and fortress in Spain. Unfortunately, it was closed for renovations during our visit.
But the best thing about the Garden, free Wi-Fi for the geeks!!
