In Australia, would you think about a hot and spicy paste or a type of food when you hear the name Sambal?
How about an Indonesian restaurant? Or possibly Malaysian?
Tucked away in a little corner, Sambal could be Sydney’s hidden gem for Malaysian food. It is so well hidden that I almost missed the restaurant’s entrance (or rather thinking where was the entrance?).
Serving all sorts of Malaysian hawker food …
… we decided to try their Penang Char Kway Teow, …
… Mamak Mee Goreng …
… Nasi Goreng …
… and Ais Kacang.
I reckon Sambal did a very good job cooking up some authentic hawker fare, but, it would be even better if they provided the option of a smaller serving at half the price.
Why’s that? Because, great food comes in small portions!!
