AU2009 - Eureka 89

After last year’s dinner cruise, the conference dinner for ISSNIP this year was held at the Eureka 89, …

… a premier event space located on the highest floor of the Eureka Tower.

The Eureka Tower is a 300-metre skyscraper located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne. Although having the highest habitable floor for a residential tower, the Q1 located on the Gold Coast in Queensland is officially the world’s tallest residential tower (as its spire adds to the total height).

Entering the tower entrance, …

… each delegate was given a Guest Pass…

… for entry to level 89, as the main elevator only goes up to level 88, which is the observation deck for Eureka, known as Skydeck. The Skydeck is highest public vantage point in a building in the Southern Hemisphere at 285 m.

Upon arrival at level 88, we were led to a flight of staircase …

… that goes up to level 89.

The spectacular views …

… together with the background music and drinks made the venue the perfect place to hang out.

Combining sleek design with amazing views across Melbourne, this state of the art venue offers a private dining room, where our banquet was held at the Northern end of the tower.

In addition, we also got a washroom with a view!!

Thanks to ISSNIP, we were lucky enough to capture the panoramic views of Melbourne, including the sunset, with a glass of wine and fine food.

Since it was also mentioned that the Eureka Tower has 24 carat (100%) gold plated glass windows on the top 10 floors of the building, this might explain as to why there were so much reflections in the pictures !?!?!
