AU2005 - Kangaroo Island: Day 2

Next morning, we explored the Flinders Chase National Park, a national park encompassing stunning coastal landscapes, vast areas of wilderness and diversity of wildlife. We managed to catch a glimpse of the abundance of wildlife roaming freely.

Remarkable Rocks in the background

The Remarkable Rocks, one of the best known icons of Kangaroo island, are a cluster of precariously balanced granite boulders. This stunning work of nature, perched above the sea in Flinders Chase National Park has been shaped by the erosive forces of wind, sea spray and rain over some 500 million years. The golden orange lichen covering some of the rocks offers visitors wonderful photo opportunities at different times of the day.

Then, we proceeded to the nearby Admirals Arch, a spectacular natural rock arch, sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years.

It is also home to a colony of frolicking fur seals.

Along the boardwalk in the other direction, we touched Kangaroo Island’s southwest tip at the magnificent sandstone Cape Du Couedic lighthouse tower.
