The Photo Marketing Association International together with the Photo Imaging Council of Australia had just organised an event to promote a new show concept for the Asia-Pacific photo imaging industry.
Being held for the third time in Australia and claimed to be the Southern Hemisphere's largest photographic imaging exhibition, the event is targeted at photo dealers, photographers, graphic designers, sign-makers, government officials, marketing executives and enthusiast photographers.
With over 100 exhibitors, the show offers the latest photo gears, model shooting opportunities, free photo tips from experts and amazing photo displays.
Going down the sponsors list, Canon was showcasing their line of printers, Ixus cameras, underwater camera, dSLRs and lenses.
Interesting exhibits from Canon include the new PowerShot D10, which is their first water-proof compact digital camera, …
… and their cute SELPHY series photo printers.
Kodak was also showing off their line of printers, cameras, picture kiosks …
and their newly released Zx1 Pocket Video Camera.
Fujifilm was more focussed on their kiosks, allowing visitors to print their pictures on-site.
Also available were music store kiosks, where visitors could listen to the songs for free or to buy them directly, …
… e-wrap kiosks, for visitors to print out stickers to decorate their phones, laptops, cameras, etc, …
.. and lastly, Photo Gifts kiosks, where visitors could print photos on to shirts, mugs, calendars, etc.
Besides, the presence of Bob the Builder and Tweety Bird helped to attract crowds to the booth.
Following the trend, HP was also showing off their picture kiosks.
Similarly to Canon, Nikon was also showcasing their dSLRS and lenses, …
… but with the advantage of visitors getting to play with three of their ultra-zooms.
Although not a sponsor, Olympus also had one of the largest booth with a viewing platform connected by a spiral staircase.
On the platform, several kind of lenses ranging from an ultra-wide to ultra-zoom were mounted to their range of dSLRs for visitors to play with.
On the ground, they showcased the newly released PEN E-P1 dSLR.
Maintaining its design from 1959, its a new advanced dSLR with a classic touch.
Besides, they also show visitors how weather resistant their dSLRs were by torturing them with water sprays.
Panasonic also had a similar torturing session by running water through their new LUMIX DMC-TS1 digital camera.
On the other hand, instead of just spraying and running water through the cameras, Sanyo dipped their camcorders into 3 aquariums, similar to what Canon did to its PowerShot D10.
With all the water theme surrounding it, Sony’s booth differentiated itself with a soccer theme. Similar to what Olympus and Nikon did, they allowed visitors to play with their range of dSLR lenses, taking pictures of the stadium backdrop.
Another interesting display from Sony was a comparison of their wobbling camcorders with SteadyShot mode on and off.
Adobe was also on-site to showcase their powerful Photoshop CS4, with a live tutorial session.
Other interesting displays around the show includes the gorillapod, a tripod that could be twist-and-turned to cling on anything, …
… and Tamron’s booth with a vintage backdrop.
All in all, for the average consumer, the show offers an in-sight to all the latest water-proof gadgets, and the range of dSLRs with their specialty lenses to take different kind of photographs.
