AU2010 - South Steyne

While attending the International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA 2010) in Sydney from the 1st to 3rd of December, we had the chance to dine at South Steyne, the venue of our conference banquet.

Now converted into a floating restaurant and function centre, the world’s largest operational steam ferry (also one of the 14 icons of Sydney) provides an unusual and unique function venue for Darling Harbour.

After having our pre-dinner drinks at the boardwalk …

… with Australia’s best local beer, James Boag’s Premium Lager, …

… we were ushered into the function centre, …

… to be entertained by live music.

The banquet started off with the serving of bread rolls, …

… followed by a selection of entrees, mains and desserts.

For entree, one could choose between BBQ’d Lamb and Tropical Mango Salad …

… or Thai Chicken Salad.

We were then served the Barramundi Macadamia …

… or the Hunter Valley Beef Fillet, depending on our luck.

And the hardest part was, choosing between the Lemon Citrus Tart …

… and Rich Chocolate Mud Cake …

… where both were served with berry coulis and cream. Thanks to both DICTA and South Steyne for the organization of the banquet and top notch service.
