After half of the tour group left us, there’s only six of us left in the tour for a relaxed day visiting a few of Fraser’s lesser known treasures. First we passed by the blackbutt tree, with natural formations that look like a dragon on the branch and a face at the trunk.

Then, we proceed to Lake Wabby, Fraser’s deepest lake and a favourite swimming hole. Lake Wabby is an impressive and beautiful emerald green barrage lake that is being slowly engulfed by Hammerstone Sandblow.

While walking to Lake Wabby, we trekked through Hammerstone Sandblow, one of Fraser’s vast desert-like sand blows. No wonder Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island!!

Exiting the sandblow, we arrived at the seventy-five mile beach again where our ranger-guide was waiting for us. We head on to Eurong Beach Resort for lunch where we managed to spot another dingo along our way.

After lunch, we visited our last destination on the island, Lake Birrabean. Similarly to Lake McKenzie, Lake Birrabean is filled with sparkling clear waters and dazzling white beaches, except for the crowd.

Our tour ended and returned to Kingfisher Bay Resort…
