AU2010 - CHATIME

After their recent sponsorship of S.H.E’s concert in Sydney, CHATIME has become another Taiwanese franchise that almost always have long queues in Chinatown.

Offering a huge selection of teas, from milk tea to fruit tea and pop tea, …

… we decided to join in the queue to try their No. 1 Top Seller, the CHATIME Grass Jelly Roasted Milk Tea.

I reckon, CHATIME’s venture into Australia will definitely give EasyWay a run for their money.

AU2010 - Christmas Tree Decoration Dinner

On the last Saturday of November, some families have the tradition of setting up the Christmas Tree as a starting sign for the festive seasons. So, when Thidarat and Paul invited us for their Christmas Tree Decoration Dinner, we were delighted to be able to join in their family tradition, ...

… where our evening started off with a Tapas Platter.

Then, while we were decorating the Christmas Tree, …

… Thidarat cooked us a feast that easily beats any Thai restaurant out there.

Among her specialities include the Sweet Chilli Egg …

… Lemongrass Stir Fried with Pork …

… Sweet and Sour Chicken …

… Papaya Salad …

… Stewed Beef …

… Vermicelli Prawns …

… and Organic Mixed Vegetables (from her little vegetable patch in the backyard).

After finishing the mains, the family tradition continued with the hanging of individual ornaments by everyone present, …

… as a finishing touch to the Christmas Tree. Of course, one could also make a wish after hanging their ornaments.

Last but not the least, the placement of the Star of Bethlehem at the top of the Christmas Tree.

With the completion of the decoration, Thidarat then appeared with a Fruit Platter …

… Croissant and Lemon Custard …

… and Chocolate Cookies for dessert.

Special thanks to Thidarat and Paul for having us. Glad that we could be part of this special family tradition.  :)

AU2010 - Thai Basil Cafe

Recommended as one of the highlights in Wollongong and voted the 25th out of 30 Thai Restaurants in the Pacific by the Lonely Planet, …

… Thai Basil Cafe is also one of the cheapest eat in town.

Among our favourites include Chicken Thai Laksa …

… Egg Noodles with Wonton …

… Pad Se-Ew …

… Thai Fried Rice …

… and their Special Thai, …

… a version of Pad Thai noodles wrapped inside an omelette.

AU2010 - Meet Fresh

If you were to pass by a shop with such a long queue, …

… would you join the queue? or give it a miss?

For us and many others, we crazily joined the queue to try out Taiwan’s most popular dessert shop that had just opened its door in Australia.

Our 30 minutes queue rewarded us with their famous cold Taro Ball Dessert with Honey Jelly, Red Bean and Pearls …

… and the Handmade Tofu Dessert with Red Beans.

Don’t you think that it is disappointing to see the huge disparity between the actual serving and the promotional picture of the Tofu Dessert?

AU2010 - Dhok Koon

A new entrant to the Thai restaurant scene in Fairy Meadow, …

… Dhok Koon claims to serve authentic and fresh Thai cuisine that is both huge in quantity and high in quality.

During our visit, we were first served some complimentary prawn crackers …

… before our order of Tom Yum Seafood was served.

Then came the Pla Sam Rod Fish Fillets …

… King Prawn Omelette …

… Stir Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts …

… and Beef Salad.

After finishing with our meal and getting ready to pay, we were surprised by the waitress whom suddenly appeared with a plate of complimentary fresh fruits.

Service? Good. Quantity? Perfect. Quality? Great. Will we be back? Definitely a YES!!
