AU2010 - Backstreet Boys This Is Us Tour

The Backstreet Boys’ This Is Us Tour is BSB’s latest world concert tour, held in many major cities around the world, and is scheduled to last for more than a year.

First started in Europe in October 2009, the tour will apparently end in December 2010 in the US. For those of us who attended the Australian leg of the tour, the concert also features Ricky-Lee Coulter, a contestant of Australian Idol 2004, whom have since released 3 albums.

Arriving early at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, the place seemed empty.

Although the main entrance was opened at 6pm, the actual door to the seatings only opened at 7.30pm, which probably explained why the place was quite dead.

Anyway, as soon as the doors opened, we head towards our seat. We were quite lucky to be able to get a first row seating at Section 28, …

… which provided us with a nice direct view of the stage.

Another advantage of seating at the first row was, being able to put my legs up… hehe…

At about 8pm, all the seats started to get filled …

… and guess what, Ricky-lee suddenly appeared on stage and started singing without any announcement.

As a supporting act, Ricky-Lee performed about 10 songs, which includes Can’t Touch It (for Opening), …

… Hell No (from her first single), Rihanna’s Umbrella, Jackson Five’s I want You Back, Sunshine (from her second single), Beyonce’s Single Ladies, Don’t Miss You, The Gossip, One Love (duet with Guitarist Glen), and Not Broken (her upcoming single). While singing Single Ladies and Don’t Miss You, the Guitarist got kicked out …

… as those songs were specially dedicated to the ladies and also single ladies with exes, before being brought back on stage for the duet. After Ricky-Lee’s performances, we had an hour’s interval where the technicians double check on all the equipments, …

… while all of us had fun with a crowd wave.

As the lights dimmed, everyone cheered to the countdown timer, and the most obvious opening for BSB is Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)!!!

They then followed on with We’ve Got It Going On …

… and PDA (Public Display of Affection).

After a very short talk, they perform the songs Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) and As Long As You Love Me …

… before going into their first interval. For this concert, each member of the group plays a part of a popular movie, and during this interval, Howie’s solo video was played, based on The Fast And The Furious movie. After the movie, the team got their attire changed and they were back on stage with This Is Us …

… Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely …

… All I Have To Give …

… She’s A Dream …

… and I’ll Never Break Your Heart.

During the second interval, its AJ’s turn, where his solo video was played based on the Fight Club movie. Again, the team changed their clothing and they were back on stage performing The Call and The One.

This is then followed by Bigger ….

… and Shape of My Heart.

Going into the third interval, Brian’s solo video was played, this time based on the movie Enchanted. Back on stage, they then performed the songs More Than That …

… Undone …

… and Incomplete.

During the final interval, Nick’s solo video, based on The Matrix movie, was played, before they came back on stage with Larger Than Life.

Next up was All Of Your Life (You Need Love) …

… Bye Bye Love and I Want It That Way. The concert was ended with an encore of Straight Through My Heart.

All in all, although there were no pyrotechnics and the concert’s lighting were not as great as Jay Chou’s, the dancing and jumping audiences gave it a much better atmosphere.
