AU2008 - Research Commercialisation Workshop

As part of my Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation course at UOW, we were  fully sponsored to attend the UniQuest Research Commercialisation Workshop, which was held between the 16th and 18th of April at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Sunshine Coast.

In this workshop, we had the chance to expand our knowledge and network, developed our comprehension of IP management, connect with funding experts, enhanced our understanding of the options available, and enriched the value of our University experience. All in all, it was an intensive course grounding in the processes, practices, pitfalls and potential rewards of commercialising research across all academic disciplines.

The UOW team

Besides discovering how our inventions, ideas and expertise could achieve real impact through commercialisation, we also discovered that the resort was a real gem in the heart of Sunshine Coast.

Walking into the resort lobby, I guess everyone would mistaken the theme of the workshop as “Relaxation” instead of “Research Commercialisation”.

The rooms were also spacious and high-tech with their built-in multimedia system consisting of the TV, radio, Internet and PlayStation. Besides, it also had a lagoon view.

The rooms

Nestled between the Maroochy River and the Pacific Ocean, the Novotel Twin Waters Resort Sunshine Coast offers a pristine beachfront location, set amongst 14 hectares of natural bushland and situated around a private 7 hectare, beach-lined lagoon.

Night views of the resort’s surrounding was also breathtaking.

After the full day intensive workshop, the resort’s luscious tropical surroundings provide a natural living with modern furnishings, comfortable beds, and a good night’s sleep.
